Summer Cooking Tips

When that summer heat gets cranking, most of us cooks like to stay out of the kitchen! On some days, it just gets too hot to even cook. Well, there are some smart summer cooking tips that I would like to share with all of you. You can still have a healthy and delicious meal without heating up the kitchen even more. Check these tips out!

Use your slow cooker: Why just use this amazing appaliance in the winter? You can create delicious summer meals without the added heat from your oven. The best part about this is you have all day to enjoy the summer sunshine, while your slow cooker does all the work for you.

Use your rice cooker: An ideal way to cook rice every time without turning on your range. Rice is a perfect side dish with kabobs and can even be added to salads.

Use your grill: Create delicious grilled salmon or even vegetable kabobs right on your grill! No need for an oven here either.

Use your bread maker: Make delicious homemade rolls for that pulled pork dinner or even fresh garlic bread knots with a cool gazpacho for a main course.

Use your microwave - Most of us do have this time saving appliance in our homes and we tend to use it to reheat meals and pop some popcorn. But the microwave can actually cook full meals and desserts so that you don't have to even turn your oven on. There are multiple sources for microwavable recipes, try one out the next time it gets to hot to turn your oven on.

Use those leftovers: From extra chicken, meat or even vegetables, be sure to use those leftovers, as you will not have to cook that extra day. Turn leftover chicken into chicken salad, or leftover steak into a delicious salad, or even that grilled corn on the cob into a shrimp and corn chowder. Keep those leftovers around, but just be sure to use them.

Use your carafe or suntea jar - Love drinking freshly brewed iced tea in the summer? Let the sun do the work! Fill your glass or plastic container with water and insert some tea bags and let the sun steep the tea for a few hours during the day. The longer you leave it out, the stronger the tea. Now, that's fresh! Simply change it up by using green tea, raspberry or peach flavored tea for a refreshing treat.

Use your ice cream maker - Want to indulge in a homemade summer treat? Why not make your own ice cream? It is quite easy and most recipes call for just a few ingredients. This would be a wonderful way to keep cool after a hot summer day.
